WHAT DO YOU DO AT
CHRISTMAS TIME?
I know many businesses spend a lot of
time planning Christmas parties and presents for their staff. This
is great but don't neglect your customers.
Take some time to think of the best way to thank your
customers at Christmas time. Choose who you want to receive a gift
or a card, what to send, when to send these gifts and how.
Most businesses have many more customers than they do staff
so there is an opportunity for you to thank a lot of customers at
Christmas time. You don't need to spend a lot of money per customer
since as we all know people do appreciate the thought. Over the
years I have received hampers, alcohol, diaries, calendars,
promotional items, Christmas cards, letters and Christmas stickers.
These are ideal Christmas presents but you might be able to come up
with an original idea that will be really appreciated. But remember
as customers ourselves, it is just nice to know our suppliers
appreciate us. This is more important than the value of the gift.
For your large customers it is nice if you can go to a little
bit of trouble. Try and think of a gift that you know your customer
will like and if possible try and deliver it to the appropriate
person in that business. For some businesses you may also need gifts
for more than one person. Again, the personal touch is more
important than the value of the gift.
Finally, do you thank any of your suppliers at Christmas
time? You will agree they should be thanking you. This of course is
true, but good suppliers are important to all businesses and if your
suppliers are looking after you, then you should certainly thank
them.
